Wheelchair Accessible Sites on Google Maps
Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) focuses on digital access and inclusion of more than a billion people with disabilities and impairments. It is marked annually on the third Thursday of May. For Year 2020 GAAD, Google Maps introduced a new feature that displays wheelchair accessible sites simply by turning on “Accessible Places” feature in their settings.
Google Maps will show a wheelchair icon next to these locations. Additional details such as wheelchair accessible entrance, restrooms, elevators, parking lot and seating may also be available based on input from those who visited these locations earlier.
